Municipality of Dolcè

Dolcè is a municipality situated in the southern part of the Vallagarina.
The River Adige flows through the municipal territory in a north-south direction and marks the western boundary. The town itself is located 29 km from Verona.
The territory in question is quite extensive, occupying an area of land measuring just over 30 km²; it borders on the north side with the Trentino municipality of Avio, on the east side with Sant’Anna d’Alfaedo, Fumane and Sant’Ambrogio di Valpolicella, on the south side also with Sant’Ambrogio, and on the west side with Rivoli Veronese and Brentino Belluno.
The valley of the municipality lies below the western slope of the Lessinia hills, which include the rocky massifs of the Corno d’Aquilio, the Corno Mozzo and Monte Pastello. The municipal territory is traversed in its entirety from south to north by State Road 12, which runs from Abetone to Brenner, and flanked by the A22 Brennero motorway, although it is not served by any toll stations (the nearest are those of Affi–Lago di Garda and Ala-Avio). Up until 1915, Ossenigo marked the frontier with the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Also located within the municipal territory is the Ceraino lock, a natural obstacle where the river flows for a few hundred metres through a gully, which in former times was passable only by boat or raft, along the river itself.
